Asparagus has arrived! A sure sign that Spring is here. Enjoy in our garden restaurant, or shop online and at the market. Well, that was a long wait, though we’re pleased to announce that asparagus is finally here. For us, it really is the mark that spring has arrived and it’s a giddy ride from here on in. All the jewels are on their way! Indeed, gleaming raspberries can already be found on the Veg Stall. Below is our ‘Late April Postcard’ to give you a flavour of this part of the season: organic ruby beetroot and purple sprouting broccoli from Jack’s Veg, beautifully varied potatoes, sweetheart cabbage, rainbow chard, blooming tulips from our small holding at Badlesmere, and flavoursome spring onions. Not forgetting lovey pink rhubarb for a crumble when there’s a decided nip in the air (and there certainly still is). Bundle up your basket at the market or online, or come and see us at the Garden Restaurant where you can enjoy everything that Kent has to offer cooked for you on the coals by Chef Rafa and team. At the Market It’s business as usual on the market. You’ll find that our influx of seasonal produce has made its way into dishes-2-go on the Wild Goose (spring green risotto) or onto the counter at Gill’s (bowls crammed with honey-sweet Nicola potatoes and mackerel salad) and we’re pleased to also let you know that Docker is back on tap at the weekends. In exciting news, Enzo’s Bakery is now revealing their stories over on Instagram – do be sure to follow to be in the know on what’s coming out of the oven.
